New roof for a Grade II listed building located in a busy educational campus
As the building was listed, certain materials had to be incorporated in the roof while other features were prohibited such as ridge tiles.
The old existing slates, sarking board and damaged split lead were removed and replaced with new Welsh slate to match the original building.
New lead mop rolled hips, lead valleys and gullies were also installed while the asphalt was replaced with a new GRP fibreglass roof system on the higher crown roof. Although the new flat roof will look the same, it will benefit from a longer lifespan as the product comes with a 25-year guarantee.

Seamless Delivery in a Live Student Environment
Close liaison with the University of Reading ensured that there was minimal disruption to the students living in the accommodation below, which remained occupied throughout the works.
The roof was completed in five weeks with the client happy with the performance and quality of the end product.
