CASE STUDIES

CASE STUDIES

Our reputation for quality roofing is founded upon the successful completion of projects across many sectors, including residential, commercial, industrial, education, health, leisure and retail.

See examples of our previous work below.

Berkshire Golf Club 1.jpg
Berkshire Golf Club, Ascot

This project comprised the complete re-roofing of an operational golf club’s club house. The crumbled original peg tiles were replaced with new Vintage Val De Seine clay tiles to match the existing building.

Detailed work included mitred bonnet hip cuts, tile hanging around the dormer windows and intricate lead work with chimneys and flashings. Bat access tiles were also included on the roof as per the Ecologist’s report with temporary bat boxes placed around the course while the works were ongoing.

A traditional handmade clay plain tile was selected for the roof of this new build prestigious country mansion to compliment the external brickwork, cedar cladding and specialist render finishes.

The roof was very detailed with multiple hips, valleys, verges, cat slides, lead gullies, flashings and Velux windows. Every tile was handmixed with three different colours to produce an aesthetically pleasing variation across the roof. Specialist care ensured that all corners were mitered to a high-quality standard.

Tadley Youth Centre, Hampshire

Designed in collaboration with young people in the local area, this modern community hub demanded a high specification roofing solution which could also be used on the building’s façades. Marley Eternit’s Thrustone Fibre Cement Slates were used to maximise visual impact. As well as being lightweight, the building material also has sustainable properties, being 100% recyclable and contributing to the build’s BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.

Slates had to be measured out precisely so they all lined up, paying particular attention to spacing.

The project was awarded the prestigious RIBA Journal MacEwen Award.

Acacia House, University of Reading

Old existing slates, sarking board and damaged split lead of this Grade II listed building were removed and replaced with new Welsh slate to match the original. New lead mop rolled hips, lead valleys and gullies were also installed while the asphalt was replaced with a new GRP fibreglass roof system on the higher crown roof.

Close liaison with the University of Reading ensured there was minimal disruption to the students living in the accommodation below, which remained occupied throughout the works.

Shepard Place, Pangbourne

The development consisted of four four-bedroom detached houses with garages and a block of six two-bedroom flats.

The roofing utilised a clay handmade Tudor tile, while handmade bullnose tile hanging featured as a special design. Detailed lead work was carried out around the properties including the chimneys and flashings, Velux windows and mitred hipped porches.

Close liaison with the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environment Management ensured the works did not disturb roosting bats.

Wishbone Way, Woking

The roof of this new block of 12 residential flats was completed with Redland concrete pan tiles. Detailed lead work was carried out on the parapet, the area where the roof meets the wall as well as around the Velux windows in the top flats.

The team also worked closely with the solar engineers to install the solar photovoltaic panels on the roof to ensure quality was not compromised
